Security

You may be aware that the Arkenstall Village Centre (AVC) has been discussing increasing security measures at the village hall, following incidents of anti-social behaviour in the car park.  You may also have noticed the temporary measures taken to control this through the use of barriers at the entrance to the car park.  The AVC Committee has now agreed a plan for more permanent measures.  This includes the installation of 3 CCTV cameras covering the car park and building line and the entrance to the car park.

The AVC is very aware of it’s responsibilities around data protection and is taking steps to ensure the scheme operates within the relevant legal frameworks.  This will include ensuring people know they are being filmed and a clear CCTV Policy which sets out why we are using CCTV, who has access to the system, the area of operation of the system, the equipment specification, how long images will be kept and accountability.  The AVC will also update it’s privacy policy to ensure that it reflects the CCTV system.

We hope you will support the efforts of the AVC to protect staff, volunteers, hirers and the public and that the installation of CCTV will act as a deterrent for further instances of anti-social behaviour.  However, if you have any concerns or questions or would like to express your support for the installation of CCTV in the car park, please let Julie Cornwell know by Thursday 4th February 2021 by e-mail: ju.cornwell@googlemail.com
